The Road To Membership
Reinforcing our Commitment to PSW's
MEMBER FORUMS
This will be considered a “safe haven” for PSW’s to openly speak about their needs, their desires, their hopes, and the changes they would like to see within the healthcare field. This will be a place where PSW’s can discuss with our staff and directors privately what their individual needs are, and assist them with getting the appropriate resources.
This will also be a place for them to come together to network and support each other with discussions, ideas, and best plans of action for us to support them as their official network.
RESOURCES
Resources are currently being sourced out for our PSW’s to provide them with supports for their overall health, and wellbeing, be it physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social, or developmental. We are reaching out to the communities and local businesses for sponsorships and donations of services for little to no cost to our PSW’s.
The services that we are currently sourcing out for major discounts for our members within various communities are:
RMT’s
Chiropractic Services
Mental Health Counselling
Bereavement Counselling
Family Counselling
Physical Abuse Counselling
Anti-Bullying Initiatives
Addiction & Mental Health Counselling & Resources
Education Services
Discounted CPR / 1st Aid Services
Accounting Services for PSW’s (to maximize employment expenses & returns)
On-Site TB testing & Flu shots
Legal Aid Services
Human Rights & Diversity Issues
In addition, all membership fees, donations, and fundraising monies will be 100% used to run, and to assist with costs associated with these, and additional services, and resources for our members.
Providing Personal Support Workers (PSW's) with supports, and accessibility to supports within the healthcare industry to assist them with their personal physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social needs at little to no cost via fundraising, donations and sponsorships, we will therefore enabling less work related injuries and WSIB claims, which will, in turn, lower the rates of employees missing work due to injury and illness and contributing to higher rates of understaffing. This is a huge contributing factor in putting further strain on an already over-extended industry which is leading to more PSW's leaving the field at an alarming rate.
We will be hoping to expand these services and resources to PSW’s all across Ontario within the next year, and across Canada within the next 3 years.
Please Note: All services can be accessed once you are a member in good standing with The Network after a minimum of 3 consecutive months of paid membership.
Resources (not education) can only be accessed by members after 3 months in good standing (with the exception of educational courses that are offered to members at a discounted rate through the provider directly)
Services are subject to availability, and may change according to the availability with the providers
